Tour de France Club Run & Social

July 23, 2022 @ 9:00 am 5:00 pm

Our annual Tour de France Club Run and Social takes place on Saturday 23 July.

As per previous years, good weather has been booked in advance and we are not expecting strong crosswinds as we head over the bridge for the Club Run. The route can viewed and downloaded from Strava https://www.strava.com/routes/2978763740868392162 (There is the option of the traditional Two Bridges route for anybody that would like a shorter route)

Club runs will start at the traditional meeting points of Xcite Linlithgow and Xcite East Calder at 9am (note the later start for the East Calder group). Both groups will rendezvous on the Forth Road Bridge at 9.45. The route then heads over the bridge into the Kingdom of Fife and on towards Dollar. Don’t miss the double right hand turn at Saline to head up Balgonar Hill for the highest point of the route at Hill End.

You will be rewarded with a cafe stop at the Milk Bar in Powmill. After the cafe you will pass the Japanese Garden to climb Upper Hillfoot Lane. Take care on the descent in to Dollar. Heading out of Dollar you will head up the Dollar Beg Climb and then it’s downhill towards the Clackmannanshire Bridge. After INEOS there is the Inveravon Climb to take you back in to Linlithgow to the Rugby Club.

There will be 3 timed climbs on the route today. Times will be measured using Strava with the best climber being named our King of the Mountains:

Foulbuttberg (2.63km, 3.0%) https://www.strava.com/segments/5277532

B9140 to Dollarberg Park (0.68km, 4.1%) https://www.strava.com/segments/909469

Inveravon Hill (0.92 km, 4.2%) https://www.strava.com/segments/3972187

And don’t forget to sprint for the 30 signs (only when it is safe to do so). After the climbs and sprints please ensure that you regroup.

Refreshments will then be served at the Linlithgow Rugby Club. A paid bar is open from 1pm and there will be food available for hungry cyclists at 2pm. All members and their guests are welcome. Secure bike parking will be available in the changing rooms. Stage 20 will be shown on the big screen. The penultimate and possibly decisive stage is an individual time trial from Lacapelle-Marival to Rocamadour. The rolling route is 40.7 kilometres long.

Once the stage has finished there will be an easy ride back to East Calder.
