Group Rides

Group Rides

Where do we ride from?
Our club rides run every Saturday leaving from the XCite Leisure Centres in Linlithgow, Bathgate and East Calder. The routes and distances vary every week and can range from less than 30 miles for our Cruise rides, up to around 70 miles for the other groups.  We cater for all ages (under 16s must accompanied by a parent or guardian) and abilities, with our Cruise ride being suitable for beginners, and non-road bikes, with a strict no drop policy. These rides move at the pace of the slowest rider.

When do we ride?
Start times range from 8:30am to 9:15am dependant on which group you choose. Club run details are posted up every week on the website and on Facebook events. Social media is also a great way of letting us know you are coming along for the first time. For those not on social media, drop us an email on clubruns@westlothianclarion.co.uk instead, and for those not on email, send us a letter at……..just kidding πŸ˜‰

We aim to keep the website as up to date as possible, but its best to follow us on social media to stay informed of the latest schedules and you will also be able to familiarise yourself with the routes.

New to group riding?
If you are new to riding in a group we recommend watching the video below to understand the basics, and some of the group riding etiquette. For those in doubt, group rides are not races, and should not be ridden as such.

*Insurance
You should accept responsibility for your own conduct and safety (including the safety of your bicycle and other equipment) during Club activities. You are responsible for your safety, individuals take part in any group rides at their own risk. West Lothian Clarion and its club members accept no responsibility for the safety of anyone participating in group rides, and no liability in the event of an accident. We strongly recommend that you take out appropriate third party insurance, such as that available with British Cycling membership.
